Training Band Main
Band Contacts and Bookings
Want to join the Training Band?
The Training Band welcomes brass players of any age and ability, whether you are a beginner or picking up after a long break from playing. We do prefer that you are able to read and play the scale of C before joining us.
We are unable to provide individual tuition; however, we can recommend local brass teachers.
The Training Band rehearses on Thursdays from 18:15 until 19:15. Players who progress well are then invited to attend the main band for half an hour each week until they feel confident enough to be able to become a full member of the band.
Our Aims for the Training Band are as follows:
* To promote good playing technique
* To familiarise players with being conducted.
* To learn how to play together as a band
* To improve music reading and knowledge
* To experience classical, modern, and traditional
Brass Band music
* To Have Fun!

In January 2010 the Training Band entered the Saltash Festival for the first time and was awarded a distinction with 87 marks for the two pieces that it played, namely
'Ruby Tuesday' and 'German Dance'.
Adjudicator, Caroline Diffley, made some very pleasant comments, particularly about the cornet playing of Evie Lightbody,
and all the players came away having thoroughly enjoyed the event.
In January 2011 and 2015 the Training Band again won its class in the Saltash Music and Drama Festival.
